Position Summary To support continued operational growth within our Telecommunication Group, Forbes Bros is currently recruiting experienced Project Construction Managers (PM/CM) for our Telecom division, overseeing work in Calgary, Edmonton, and Winnipeg. Working under the supervision of the Program Manager, the PM/CM will be responsible for completing both the project management and construction management activities
Key Responsibilities The day to day responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to: · Ensure project operational plans are aligned and integrated with corporate HS&E strategies, programs and systems · Manage project to ensure profitable and timely operations, exceeding budget and quality expectations · Interface directly with Subcontractors by managing daily activities, costs and change orders · Participate in the preparation of key telecom proposals – (Both Wireless and Underground). Activities include: o Preparing contractor scope of work o Reviewing contract documentation o Solicitation for pricing and services o Assembly of schedule and proposal documentation · Provide supervision and planning in the successful completion of assigned projects. Determine the method of construction, manpower required, equipment and material needed to maintain quality and management of project costs · Plan, lead, set up and participate in day to day work activities to ensure that established goals and objectives are met · Review and approval of all related design and engineering documentation (electronics, civil etc) prior to deployment · Identify and mitigate construction and engineering risks and constraints which may impact project objectives · Manage and coordinate all site construction project resources and stakeholders (including design engineers) · Provide daily coordination of Telecom field resources in accordance with overall project schedule · Identify and communicate any physical and electrical deviations from the mutually agreed specification and scope to stakeholders · Management of site-specific changes and deviations without impacting the schedule, workmanship or the integrity of the network · Management of onsite contractors through site-specific changes and deviations without impacting the schedule, workmanship or the integrity of the network · Provide daily site construction status and progress reports to Forbes Bros/Customer · Routine inspection of site workmanship to ensure conformance with Customers SOW and industry standards at all times · Organize and participate in final site inspections with FBL resources and Customer · Assemble and review relevant site documentation in accordance with documentation deliverables · Manage and participate in related deficiency cleanup and redlining activities for customer acceptance and closeout · Organize and participate in final site inspections with Forbes Bros resources and Customer
Requirements and Qualifications Minimum 8-10 years of OSP experience (Power and/or Telecom) and constructing and maintaining wireless facilities and infrastructure · Minimum 3-5 years experience leading and managing construction crews Outside Plant (OSP - Underground/Aerial ) Requirements: As the successful, candidate you will have: · Experience in managing the construction and acceptance of underground facilities such as: o Conduit placement via trenching and HDD o Vault and handhold placement o Pedestal and cabinet placement o Restoration activities (asphalt, concrete, roadways) o Cable placement, splicing and testing o Build entry and customer premise installation · Experience in managing the construction and acceptance of overhead aerial facilities such as: o Support structure (make ready) installation o Cable placement and lashing o Active equipment installation and placement o Cable placement, splicing and testing o Utility pole upgrades and audits · Experience operating the following equipment: backhoe, skid steer, HDD, ditch witch, bucket truck, lasher, pullers, cable jetters etc. Wireless Requirements: As the successful, candidate you will have: · Experience in managing the construction and acceptance of wireless facilities such as: o Tower foundations o Tower/Rooftop infrastructure o Cellular and PTMP Antenna and line installation o Cellular RRU, Combiner, Radio equipment installation (Cellular overlay and enhancement) o Microwave Antenna facilities · Experience with testing and commissioning cellular/ microwave and wireless networks would be considered an asset Additional Details: This position is largely field based and requires candidates to: · Have and maintain a valid driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract · Successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing · Strong communication skills · Project and construction management certifications would be considered an asset · Must be able to complete construction projects within scheduled deadlines with a high level of accuracy · Candidates with a diverse telecommunications backgrounds that cover both wireless and OSP installation services would be considered and asset
